Kheer Recipe: A Delicious and Healthy Dessert Option
Introduction:
Kheer is a popular dessert in Hyderabadi household, perfect for weddings, weekend get-togethers, or any occasion. This recipe allows you to enjoy a delicious dessert while keeping calorie count in mind.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Basmati rice
- 1.5 liters Milk
- Sugar (as per taste)
- 3-4 crushed Cardamom
- Chopped Nuts of choice (almonds, cashew)
Method of Preparation:
- Soaking Rice: Soak rice in water for an hour.
- Cooking Rice: Choose one of the following methods:
- Method 1: Cook rice in milk until soft, cool and then grind (cooking with this method gives smooth kheer).
- Method 2: Grind soaked rice and then cook in milk, stirring continuously to avoid lumps ( Results to grainy textured kheer) .
- Cooking Kheer:
- Cook the mixture until it begins to boil.
- Add desired sugar, crushed cardamom, saffron strands(optional) and continue cooking until simmering.
- Serving:
- Dish out and serve cool.
- Garnish with chopped nuts.
Tips:
- Stir constantly to avoid burning or sticking to the vessel.
- Always cook on low to medium flame to avoid burning.
